Restoration of the frescoes
The restoration, through the elimination of the most macroscopic degradation factors, also involved the remains of the body of a Byzantine church - one of the oldest constructions of its kind in Apulia - adjacent to the larger body of the Latin church. The entire church was originally intended to be decorated in the style of Byzantine churches, but only a few traces of the frescoes have survived, and restoration work has brought them to light, making the remains readable once again.
