Wooden sketch by U. Mastroianni: the monument to peace namely energy

Bozzetto ligneo di U. Mastroianni: il monumento alla pace ossia energia

Contemporary restoration works

In the case of contemporary art, but especially today's sculptures, it is not possible to proceed in a similar way to the restoration of the antiques; only minimal intervention is attempted, working especially on the environment surrounding the artefact and on the possible causes of deterioration. The two individual elements, those named R39 and R41, have been catalogued using a common code. The work was then compared with photographs from the exhibition of wooden sketches in Florence in 1981, to check the installation of the elements. As the entire surface was covered with a thick layer of loose deposits of atmospheric particles, the entire surface of the individual wooden elements as well as the metal brackets inside the wooden tubes were dusted with a brush and then reassembled.
